Le président Alassane Ouattara a été investi lundi 8 décembre pour un quatrième mandat à la tête de la Côte d’Ivoire, lors d’une cérémonie au palais présidentiel d’Abidjan, a constaté un journaliste de l’AFP.

«Devant le peuple souverain de Côte d’Ivoire, je jure solennellement et sur l’honneur de respecter et de défendre fidèlement la Constitution, d’incarner l’unité nationale (…) de remplir consciencieusement les devoirs de ma charge dans l’intérêt supérieur de la nation», a déclaré Alassane Ouattara, 83 ans, main droite levée et main gauche sur la Constitution. Il avait été réélu fin octobre avec près de 90% des voix au premier tour.

La cérémonie s’est tenue en présence de onze chefs d’Etat africains (Angola, Congo-Brazzaville, Djibouti, Gabon, Sénégal, Comores, Ghana, Gambie, Liberia, Sierra-Leone et Mauritanie) mais aussi d’anciens dirigeants comme le Nigérien Mahamadou Issoufou ainsi que de la secrétaire générale de la Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo.

Hors Afrique, la France, contestée en Afrique de l’Ouest mais toujours partenaire privilégié de la Côte d’Ivoire, était représentée par la présidente de l’Assemblée nationale, Yaël Braun-Pivet.
